(WXYZ) — Winter is trying to move in a little early this year.

The beginning of November has average highs in the mid 50s and average lows in the upper 30s. Temperatures around metro Detroit will be around 15 degrees below average by Thursday.

Cold air plunges south from Canada behind a fast-moving storm system Wednesday into Thursday. We'll have lows in the 20s and highs in the 30s.

Long-range forecast models are pointing at deeper arctic air swinging southward Sunday through Tuesday next week. That could mean lows in the teens and high temps staying below freezing for Veterans Day.

Be ready for this cold snap to last through at least the middle of next week. We may have temperatures rebounding back to near average around the middle of the month.
