American Red Cross to 'Sound the Alarm' in Detroit, install free smoke alarms

DETROIT (WXYZ) — The American Red Cross of Michigan is joining a national effort to install 100,000 free fire alarms this spring.

Volunteers will install free fire alarms across the city of Detroit on April 29, May 6 and 11. Members of the Detroit Fire Department will also help out.

Volunteers will meet at the American Red Cross Regional Office, 7800 Outer Drive, at 10 a.m. and will work until about 3 p.m.
