DEARBORN, Mich. (WXYZ) — An elementary school in the Dearborn School District will be closed, and it's unclear for how long, after one of the staff members came in contact with a confirmed case of the coronavirus.

According to the school district, the Wayne County Health Department's Contact Investigation Team found a staff member at Whitmore-Bolles Elementary School should be tested for COVID-19 as they were in contact with a person who has a confirmed case.

Based on the information, the health department found the school is at a law risk, but they are closing the school until test results are confirmed "out of an abundance of caution."

"Our school nurses have done an outstanding job of compiling information and helpful links to other resources," the principal said.

The school district is in constant communication with health officials in the county, state and the CDC.
