WASHTENAW CO., Mich. (WXYZ) — The Washtenaw County Sheriff's Office needs the public's help finding people responsible for causing several thousand of dollars worth of damage to county parks.

Deputies need your help identifying the suspects responsible for causing damage to County Farm Park, and say this isn’t the first time the they've struck the area.

"It’s horrible to hear," said park user Margot Campos. "It’s well used and I use it all the time year round in the winter."

Some say it’s a shame people would destroy something that’s used by so many.

"It’s big damage to a lot of people because I think year round a lot of people use the park a lot," said John Su, who uses the park mostly in the summer.

The incident happened Nov. 9 around 5 a.m. Deputies say it appears the suspects hit the same place multiple times. Surveillance pictures show two suspects using a hatchet and what appears to be bolt cutters to damage security cameras, door locks, sinks and toilets.

"I feel bad I don't think people should do that," Su said. "I have no idea why people do that."

Deputies say the suspects then ransacked a storage room. People who use the park say it’s too bad people would actually do this kind of damage.

"It’s such a beautiful park and it’s a shame that much vandalism has happened," Campos said. "I hope we can get the money to fix it."
