An apartment at Autumn Woods Apartments in Sterling Heights is destroyed due to a fire on Saturday morning.
The woman living in the apartment said her 11-year-old son was playing with a lighter and lit a piece of paper on fire, which then caught the couch on fire.
She said she woke up and knocked on all the neighbor's doors so they could get out safely.
She lost everything and had no renter's insurance.
No injuries were reported.
