DETROIT (WXYZ) — More than a year after bike share service MoGo announced it was expanding to five cities in metro Detroit, the company now has station locations.

According to MoGo, they will be adding 31 stations and 140 bikes to central northwest Detroit, as well as Ferndale, Royal Oak, Oak Park, Berkley and Huntington Woods. The addition will nearly double MoGo's size. It's expected the stations will open in the spring of 2020.

“MoGo is proud to partner with our expansion communities in tackling an important piece of the regional transportation puzzle,” said Lisa Nuszkowski, founder and executive director of MoGo. “Bike share is ideal for shorter distance trips, and we are excited to be one step closer to increasing mobility options for more people in metro Detroit.”

There will be several stations in Ferndale, Berkley and Royal Oak, with a couple of stations in Oak Park and Ferndale. About 10 stations will be added in central northwest Detroit, with three surrounding Palmer Park near Detroit Golf Club, and three more near the University of Detroit Mercy.

“We are eagerly awaiting the advent of MoGo as a new transit option in our community,” said Erik Tungate, Oak Park City Manager. “It will complement our efforts to create the highest quality of life with the best public amenities possible.”

There have been more than 338,000 rides since MoGo started in May 2017, and there are more than 2,000 current active members with passes.
