Police are looking for a man who assaulted and robbed a man in Sterling Heights off of M-59 and Mound Road.
The victim told police that on his way home from work on Sunday at around 12:40 a.m., he let his dog outside to relieve himself at his home on Acorn Lane and an unknown man approached and pointed a gun at him.
The suspect then ordered the victim back inside of his home. Once inside, the suspect struck the victim in the face with the handle of the revolver.
Police say he then grabbed a pillow case and proceeded to steal numerous items from the home, including jewelry and the victim's cell phone. He then grabbed the victim's car keys and then proceeded to steal his Jeep.
The victim, who is a CPL holder, retrieved his handgun and exited the home as the suspect was stealing the Jeep. Police say the victim then fired numerous shots at the suspect, striking the car, which then fled away in an unknown direction.
Police say the Jeep was located and recovered unoccupied, not far from the scene of the incident. It is unknown if the suspect was ever hit by the shots that were fired at him.
Officials are investigating the incident. If anyone has information on the suspect, they are encouraged to call Sterling Heights Police at 586-446-2825.
