Detroit police are searching for a suspect who broke into a man's home on Chalmers and shot and killed him.
Jesse Lovett, 52, was described as a devoted father and someone who always looked out for his friends.
On Monday, Lovett was ambushed and fatally shot inside his home on Chalmers near Vernor. He was returning from a gas station where he had just purchased his daily coffee.
Police say there may have been a struggle, and that the suspect may have been wounded.
Lovett was found at around 8 a.m. by a friend he lived with.
Police are still working to identify a motive and determine a suspect description.
