Oakland University police investigating three arsons on campus

Oakland University police are investigating after three arson incidents on campus over the last couple of months.

According to police, they were notified of someone setting fire to a women's bathroom at the South Foundation Hall on Thursday night around 8:30.

At the same time, police were also notified of two similar incidents that occurred in the same situations. There was a fire set in the third floor women's restroom in the South Foundation Hall on June 1 and in May, there was a fire set in the second floor men's room of Hannah Hall.

Anyone with information is asked to call Oakland University police at 248-370-3331. 

OU police reminds campus community members to consider the following:

  • If you see anyone or anything suspicious on campus, contact the OUPD immediately.
  • If you see or smell smoke on campus, call 911 and activate the nearest fire alarm pull station.
  • Except when a building is in lockdown status, evacuate the building if a fire alarm sounds.
  • If a fire alarm sounds in a building that is in lockdown status, evacuate the building only if your life is threatened by fire or smoke.
