The city of Detroit says three city-owned golf courses will close this month unless a new contract is approved by city council.

According to Chief Procurement Officer Boysie Jackson, Detroit Chandler Park Golf Course, Rackham Golf Course and Rouge Park Golf Course will close on March 23.

The city's Office of Contracting and Procurement lead a six-month procurement process and selected a vendor to manage the courses.

The Detroit City Council voted on Tuesday not to approve the contract with a 4-4 vote. The current contract ends on March 22.

Both Rouge Park and Rackham golf courses are located in the city, while Rackham Golf Course is located in Huntington Woods.
