Two men have been charged in relation to a home invasion and pursuit that occurred on April 29.

Around 4 a.m., Royal Oak officers were called to an apartment in the 4300 block of Judson for a man who had broken into the caller's apartment.

Officers learned the suspect, 22-year-old Joshua Pretzer, was an ex-boyfriend who was out on bond for domestic assault against the victim.

Police say Pretzer reportedly entered the apartment through a window, argued with the victim, damaged a door and then stole her cell phone.

Officers later located his vehicle on Greenfield and attempted to stop it. The car did not stop, resulting in a police chase going through Clawson on 14 Mile, reaching speeds in excess of 100 miles per hour.

During the initial pursuit, police say the passenger and driver switched places while the vehicle was in motion. It eventually turned its lights off and, due to reckless speeds, officers were forced to back off.

Later in the morning, the initial driver, and registered owner of the fleeing vehicle was arrested when he attempted to report his vehicle stolen. He has been identified as 18-year-old Dylan Gazzola.

Royal Oak investigators searched for Pretzer and located him late Wednesday evening at a home in Eastpointe.

Pretzer is facing the following charges:

  • Home Invasion - First Degree, a 20-year felony
  • Home invasion - Third Degree, a 5-year felony
  • Fleeing and Eluding a Police Officer - Third Degree, a 5-year felony

Gazzola was charged with one count of Fleeing and Eluding a Police Officer - Fourth Degree, a two-year felony.

Pretzer's bond was set at $50,000 while Gazzola's was set at $2,500.
