WYANDOTTE, Mich. (WXYZ) — A Downriver woman is speaking out after a man was seen on her ring camera returning her lost wallet.
Hannah Krabbenbos says when a stranger rang her ring doorbell she didn’t answer because she was sleeping, but says when she looked back at the video she saw the man put something in her mailbox. And to her surprise, it was her lost wallet.
"I didn’t even know that I had lost it and there’s this guy returning it to me," Krabbenbos said.
She says her mother sent her a text about someone at the front door.
"She was like, 'hey, someone just rang the doorbell," Krabbenbos said. "And she said it looks like someone was returning a wallet or something."
The ring doorbell recorded every move that young man made. When Krabbenbos looked at the video, she knew right away it was her wallet and is so thankful it was returned.
"My credit card, my debit card were both in my wallet and my Wayne State one card, my drivers license – everything was in my wallet," Krabbenbos said.
The woman's mother posted the video on social media, thanking the young man for returning her daughter's wallet. People responded saying, “love this," "love it! Makes my heart happy knowing there are some good people in this world.”
The person seen on video even replying saying, "I’m just glad I found it and not someone else."
We contacted him through Facebook. He replied and said he didn’t want to do an interview or be on camera but wrote, “this was just the right thing to do, and I believe you should just do the right thing even when no one's looking.
Krabbenbos would like to thank him personally.
"Thank you very much for returning it and not taking pictures of my credit cards or taking my credit cards," she said. "I’m very glad you did the right thing and put it in my mailbox. It means a lot to me."
Krabbenbos says she’s glad there are honest people who still do the right thing.
