DETROIT (WXYZ) — Werner Blakely is Detroit's first All-American baseball player, he's also the first player that has come through the Detroit Police Athletic League to make it to the major leagues, something that is not lost on him.
"I don't know where I'd be without Detroit PAL, so I'm very fortunate," Los Angeles fourth round pick Blakey said.
That's why it was so important to Blakely, that as games start to resume down at the historic site of Tigers Stadium, he was there to address kids who are currently taking advantage of the great opportunity in front of them.
Werner hopes to maintain very active in the Detroit community even while making his way to the major l
