(WXYZ) — Make-A-Wish sent former Cass Tech football standout Terry Irby to the Super Bowl.
That sentence alone is worth celebrating.
Irby's Super Bowl surprises didn't stop there.
18 years old, Irby had a tough childhood. His father died when he was 10. During his days on Cass Tech's football team, Terry found out his kidneys were in failure. After receiving a kidney transplant, the teen said he feels as good as he's ever felt.
When Patrick Mahomes won the Super Bowl MVP, Make-A-Wish made it clear: he wouldn't go alone. Irby joined a group of kids who got to join the Chiefs quarterback in Orlando.
