DETROIT (WXYZ) — As the state of Michigan, the country and the sports world continue to navigate the health and economic impact of the coronavirus, the Ilitch family says there are no plans to lay-off or furloughing employees for the Tigers.

Chris Ilitch, president and CEO of Ilitch Holdings, Inc., confirmed the move, saying that the family company will continue to monitor the situation as it's ever changing, but at this time no layoffs will occur.

“The Detroit Tigers have no plans for lay-offs or furloughs of its employees, including those subject to a Uniformed Employee Contract," Ilitch said. "We are a family company with strong values around our employees, our fans and our community."

He added, “Of course, this is an evolving situation that we’re confronting head on and we’ll keep our employees updated if things change. But we are taking a longer term view.”
