MOUNT CLEMENS, MI (WXYZ) — As with so many other events this year, volunteers and staff at the Anton Art Center are working to bring our fan-favorite Holiday Market online, allowing customers to shop safely from the comfort of their home with convenient shipping or curbside pickup options.

Anton Art Center staff and volunteers are also excited to reopen to the public for limited in-person shopping on Saturdays, November 21 and 28, and December 5, 12 and 19 from 11am – 3pm. Returning to this year’s market are many longtime participating local artists, with some of your favorite handmade artwork and holiday items, now easier to purchase than ever. Facemasks and health screenings will be required of in-person shoppers (health screenings will con-sist of a temperature reading and response to standard COVID-19 screening questions). Additional cleaning protocols are in place, with staff and volunteers cleaning high-traffic/touch surfaces before opening, each hour the building is open, and following closure. Attendance restrictions will be in place. We are committed to the health and safety of our shoppers, volunteers and staff, and want to ensure a safe and comfortable shopping experience.

The Holiday Market operates on consignment, and helped artists earn $45,000 in 2019. Each year, this event serves as an important source of sales and income for local artists, with total sales continu-ing to increase year over year. Particularly as the Coronavirus pandemic continues to hamper in-per-son commerce, it is important to Shop Small and Shop Local.

Holiday Market will include an online silent auction, featuring artwork by local artists Connie Sochacki, Jan Gunning, and Eva Samulski, which will be open for bids at https://www.theartcenter.org/from November 20 – December 11, 2020 at 7pm. All proceeds from the online silent auction will benefit Anton Art Center exhibit and education programming in the upcoming year. Your support is needed to continue providing free arts opportunities and experiences in our community, now more than ever.
