(WXYZ) — Shipping a stingray is no easy feat — to ensure their safety, it takes several crucial steps, according to SEA LIFE Michigan.

The aquarium said 5 stingrays and other sea creatures, including a bamboo shark, a bonnethead shark, a brown whip ray and three snowflake moray eels were sent to SEA LIFE New Jersey, which is opening in the spring.

According to a press release, the move is part of their efforts to create a "stronger captive population and increase the number of ocean creatures in the wild."

In order to ensure the safety of the sea creatures during the move, the aquarium said staff will monitor water salinity and temperature during the entire delivery process.

“The animal care team is full of many proud parents today as they see the babies they cared for move on to their new home in SEA LIFE New Jersey,” said Senior Aquarist of SEA LIFE Michigan, Lauren Marcon, in a press release. “After months and sometimes years of caring for these creatures, we are excited to see them inspire guests to grow their love of the ocean.”
