Monroe Post troopers have arrested a man responsible for armed robbery in Monroe Township Thursday afternoon.

Troopers responded to a call of an armed robbery in the parking lot of the Monroe Feed Store on Telegraph Road around 4:15 p.m.

The 34-year-old suspect approached the 77-year-old victim, who was loading dog food into his vehicle. Police say the suspect began making small talk with the victim, then pulled out a knife and told the man to "hand over all his money."

As the victim complied, the suspect accidently dropped the knife and the victim quickly stepped on it. The 34-year-old pushed the elderly man to the ground, picked up the knife and ran away going north of Telegraph Road.

After searching the area, troopers and a K-9 unit located the suspect in brush near Plum Creek.

Police say the man was arrested without incident, the stolen money was recovered and the knife used in the robbery was found in a nearby dumpster.

The 77-year-old male victim was not injured.

The suspect is being held at the Monroe County Jail.
