Holocaust survivor to sing at Tigers game

Posted

Earlier this week, we introduced you to 89-year-old Hermina Hirsch as she shared her dream of singing the National Anthem at a Tigers game.

A spokesman for the Tigers tells 7 Action News that they are happy to extend an invitation to Mrs. Hirsch, and they are currently working with her family on selecting a date for her big moment in the spotlight.

Hirsch, who survived the Holocaust, gained attention after relatives posted a video of her singing on Facebook.

When asked if she would be scared of singing in front of such a big audience, she said the strength she gained from surviving the atrocities of a concentration camp gives her courage.

"If we live through the concentration camp, we have nothing to lose there. This is the way I feel I have nothing to lose here by trying to sing, and I love singing to the national anthem,"
