AmpMe explains in their official blog that the app helps connect your phone to the phones of other partygoers to play a tune. You can start your own party in the app or join one.
The host chooses a song from their music library. Friends join on in—and within seconds, the devices start playing the same jam in sync.
AmpMe recently updated the app with an "offline sync" feature.
Friends are now able to play tunes through the host's music library even if there’s no internet connection, according to AmpMe.
