A group called #DearbornStrong gathered on Saturday at the Islamic Center of America for an anti-hate and anti-terror rally.
They say intimidation, fear-mongering and hate speeches should not be tolerated.
"We will not be defined by fear and we will not be subject to savage speech that separates our community and the community of Americans that causes us to be suspicious of one another and to our neighbors," they said.
Dearborn Strong and civil rights activists say they are hoping people of all faith and communities can unite and come together.
"This is our country. We love this country like anybody else. We are willing to defend this country," they said.
