On May 17, a resident in Bloomfield Township reported that she was the victim of a phone scam.
The caller identified themselves as law enforcement officials and demanded payment of $2,000 in lieu of prosecution.
The resident, who recently moved to the United States, was unaware of the phone scam and bought $2,000 worth of Google Play gift cards.
She then provided the caller with the transaction numbers over the phone.
