Car thieves are on the run after stealing a number of new vehicles from a storage lot in Detroit.
The suspects struck this morning across the street from the Jefferson North Assembly plant on the city's east side.
According to police, the suspects cut a hole through a fence at the lot on Conner near Kercheval.
Officers say a thief then crawled through the hole, stole a truck and rammed the gate, allowing others to get in and steal a number of Charger Hellcats.
Fiat Chrysler Automobiles released this statement in response to the thefts:
FCA US is working with the Detroit Police Department regarding the theft of several vehicles from a shipping yard managed by a third party near the Jefferson North Assembly Plant. As this is an open investigation, the Company is not commenting any further on what vehicles were stolen or how they were stolen.
A similar incident happened across the street from that same plant last month on August 15th.
Detroit police say thieves stole five Dodge Durangoes from a lot near Jefferson North.
Back in May, car thieves hit another storage lot near Chryslers' Warren truck plant on Mound Road.
They stole nine Ram pickup trucks that were fresh off the assembly line and hadn't even been titled.
