FARMINGTON, Mich. (WXYZ) — Police have arrested a suspect who allegedly burglarized two downtown Farmington businesses on New Year's Day.
The Farmington Public Safety Department says David Scott Reese, 55, of Detroit, was arrested on Tuesday, Jan. 8. Officers located Reese outside of a home in Detroit.
“We are grateful to those who called in tips leading to the identity and arrest of the suspect in this case," said Frank Demers, Farmington Public Safety Director. "This is a shining example of how concerned community members came together to help us apprehend a dangerous career criminal.”
Reese is believed to be responsible for burglaries that took place at Mi Mosa and Brown Dog Creamery in downtown Farmington on New Year's Day. It was tips from the public that led to his arrest.
The suspect has a long criminal history of burglary, police say, and was already on parole after serving time in prison for burglary.
Reese has been charged with two counts of burglary in the downtown Farmington break-ins. Each count carries a penalty of ten years in prison. Reese is being held in Wayne County and will be brought to Farmington to be arraigned.
