It was Dr. Seuss Day in Troy on Tuesday. He would have been 112 years old on this day.
More than 40 years ago, he wrote a letter to the children of Troy.
When the Troy Public Library opened in 1971, the librarian at the time asked famous politicians, artists and authors to write a letter to the children of Troy.
Dr. Seuss wrote "Read Read Read" on construction paper with crayons.
A bigger replica is on display but the message remains clear.
"To have an original Dr. Seuss letter in your possession is mind blowing," said Cathleen Russ of the Troy Public Library. "Whether you read a print book. Whether you read on your iPad, whether you read on your phone, it doesn't matter as long as you read."
The Troy Public Library has a variety of Dr. Seuss books to check out if you want to celebrate Dr. Seuss Day.
"We have a great collection of Dr. Seuss books. And, we have a lot of other great books too."
