CLARKSTON, MY (WXYZ) — According to the Oakland County Sheriff's Office, the Clarkston siblings taken by their father on August 4, have been found safe in North Carolina.
According to police, the children's father, Joshua Breckenridge, stole his children's mother's car and drove it to North Carolina.
Police say he was found late Friday in Greenville at his mother's house. Greenville police confirmed the children were fine.
Breckenridge is currently on probation for a domestic violence convictions and a condition of his probation prohibits him from leaving the state without court permission. On Friday, 52nd District Court – Third Division Judge Kelley Kostin held a Zoom call with Breckenridge and his attorney.
She revoked Breckenridge’s probationary status, ordered his arrest and set a $1 million bond.
Because the domestic violence conviction is a misdemeanor, Greenville police declined to arrest Breckenridge.
A potential kidnapping charge also does not apply because Breckenridge and the mother have joint custody of the children.
Sheriff’s Detectives and prosecutors are to meet on Monday to determine how to expedite Breckenridge’s return to Michigan.
Greenville police say they have yet to locate the 2003 white GMC Sierra the mother said Breckenridge took without permission.
