DETROIT (WXYZ) — A boater was reported missing while traveling the Clinton River from Clinton Township to Gibraltar on April 24.
The Coast Guard has initiated a search for Kirk Cunningham, 48, who was aboard vessel Heavenly Days, a 25-foot white Sea Ray vessel with blue trim and a blue canopy.
According to a release, the vessel Cunningham was on reportedly had mechanical issues around 6 p.m. Wednesday in the southern end of the Detroit River. However, repairs were made and transit continued toward the Gibraltar area.
Search and rescue boats were launched from Coast Guard Stations Belle Isle and Toledo. Also, a helicopter crew from Coast Guard Air Station Detroit is also scanning the area.
