A new $25 million initiative is aimed at economic development in the Flint area, according to an announcement from Detroit Pistons owner Tom Gores and Hungtington Bank CEO Steve Steinour.

The money will be invested into programs to support "homeowners, businesses, entrepreneurs and residents of Flint and Genesee County."

Gores noted in a press release that this was the private sector partnership he envisioned when they launched FlintNOW.

“I am really proud of Huntington for stepping up in such a substantial way and joining us in this cause," stated Gores in a press release.

A number of partners will help implement the programs.
