DETROIT (WXYZ) — The Detroit Police Department has debunked active shooter allegations making the rounds on social media.
The allegations urge people to seek shelter immediately and not to open doors, noting that people shooting into homes and breaking into businesses.
"During a time where the county is mourning the loss of scores of innocent people, due to recent mass shootings, spreading false information such as this is malicious, it’s reckless and irresponsible," DPD says. "If you did not hear it from the Detroit Police Department, it is not true."
