Detroit Police Officers Association President Mark Diaz was found guilty of misdemeanor reckless driving after a joyride through the Holly Academy school campus last winter.

He was found guilty on the misdemeanor but not guilty on the malicious destruction of property charge. That means he will avoid prison and keep his police license.

Diaz was accused of driving into part of the building at Holly Academy on Dec. 20, 2016, causing thousands of dollars in damage. It is just blocks from his home.

His sentencing is scheduled for Nov. 14.
