DETROIT (WXYZ) — He was allegedly caught in the act, left, then came back to try to burglarize a house again. Now the homeowner is asking for your help bringing him to justice.
After a plumbing problem caused damage Leontyne Paige and her family had to move out for repairs. As they move back in to her house on Wayburn on Detroit's Eastside she is nervous.
“It is just scary,” says Leontyne Paige, the burglary victim.
She shared the video she says her ring camera captured around four yesterday morning, the first time she says a burglar came. She spoke to him through the ring door bell.
Then she called her neighbor Wynonna Cox, who answered.
Cox says she looked and saw the man trying to break into her neighbors house. She yelled and saw him run. They both thought it was over.
Then at 5:59 that morning the Ring doorbell alerted Paige again. The same man was back. She yelled at him through the doorbell and thought he left.
She was staying nearby and rushed over herself to double check. She says she found a ladder and a crowbar in her backyard, then saw the man inside her house.
She called police and found herself amazed at the amount of time it took for them to get to her house. They were fast.
“I don’t know if it was 3 minutes or 5 minutes. I don’t know if they just fell out of the sky,” she said. "I am taking them donuts only because I hear that is the thing for police. Is it true? I hope so. I don’t want to offend them.”
Still, the man ran before police arrived. She is hoping you now can help bring him to justice by identifying him for Detroit Police.
