A Metro Detroit animal rescue now needs you to help rescue them. Home Fur-ever Animal Rescue of Detroit is a foster-based organization. It rescues dogs every day.

The faithful volunteers take in dogs from all over Detroit, dogs that have been abandoned, thrown away, lost, sick, hungry, abused, mistreated and left for dead.

They give the animals a second chance at life. Don’t we all deserve that?

The volunteers get the dogs medical care, a foster family and then a forever home. None of what they do is cheap.

It’s all done daily using donations, grassroots fund-raising dollars and their own dime.

However, now the money needed to do this work has run out.

Home Fur-ever Rescue is tens of thousands of dollars in debt. hey owe various veterinary clinics that have cared for dozens of dogs. They also need dogs to be adopted into good families.

Because Home Forever has spent everything they have helping and healing animals.

For the volunteers it is their passion to rescue the innocent animals and they want that daily goal to continue They says the dogs need them.

“They don’t stand a chance without rescues. We get calls at two or three o’clock in the morning, twenty-four/seven, Sundays and holidays ... Thanksgiving Day,” says Director and Volunteer Marilyn McKiddie.

Home Fur-ever is working on trying to regain it’s 501C3 non-profit status due to lack of funding. In the meantime, to stay up and running, they need donations, volunteers, and adoptions, badly. Now.

“I do it because I think the dogs need us. We’re relying on everyone to give us donations of any kind,” says Volunteer Deborah Laurie.

The fear is that the rescue organization will have to shut is doors if they don’t raise enough money before the new year. The greatest fear is what will happen to the dogs that need them.

“They should have an opportunity too, they don’t have a voice. Every dollar every, penny counts,” says Volunteer Dawn Ruff.
