Ducklings saved from sewer by Sterling Heights Fire Department

Posted

First responders saved five ducklings that had fallen through a sewer gate outside of Lakeside Mall on Wednesday.

Members of the Sterling Heights Fire Department and the Department of Public Works responded to the area after it was reported that ducklings had fallen into a sewer.

When crews arrived, the mother duck was waiting by the sewer. The ducklings had taken shelter in a pipe, keeping them out of reach.

The crews then decided to go to a connected sewer and use a fire hose to flush the ducklings out of the pipe and into a net and to safety.

The rescue was detailed in a post by Sterling Heights City Hall.
