DETROIT (WXYZ) — St. Patrick's Day festivities will kick off this weekend in Detroit.
More than 80,000 people are expected to attend the 61st annual Detroit St. Patrick's Parade and Corktown Race on Sunday, March 10.
"For 61 years, the St. Patrick's Parade has brought together people of all cultures and nationalities in metro Detroit to come together to celebrate Irish culture and make lasting memories," 2019 Grand Marshals Paul and Agnes Gowdy said in a joint statement. "We look forward to continuing that tradition this year. This parade is a great time to celebrate Corktown, celebrate Detroit and celebrate the positive momentum in the area."
The parade will offer a "Family Fun Zone," which includes live entertainment, inflatable amusements and private restrooms. Tickets are $12 per person.

Weather
Plan to dress warm as it will be a high of 42 degrees on Sunday, with wind gusts and spotty rain showers.
Also, Sunday is Daylight Saving Time – don't forget to spring forward and set your alarms accordingly.
Corktown Races
When: Kids Quarter Mile kicks off the race at 10:30 a.m.
Where: Michigan Central Station at Michigan Avenue and Vernor Hwy.

Detroit St. Patrick's Parade
When: 1 p.m.
Where: The parade starts at the Irish Plaza on 6th street near Michigan Avenue in Corktown and goes down Michigan Avenue to 14th Street.
Parking: Parking can be tough in the area as there are no structures. However, plan to park near Michigan Ave. since most of the main road will be blocked off. Paid parking lots will be available nearby so plan to come as early as possible.
Expert Tip: The best viewing area is along Michigan Avenue from 6th Ave. and Rosa Parks Blvd.
