The Post Bar in Dearborn could find itself in hot water this week.

In April, a fight outside the bar drew the ire of Dearborn’s city council. A police report from a weekend event reads that bottles were thrown outside, and that gunfire had erupted near the bar as police arrived. It led to a nuisance abatement board hearing, leading to an agreement for the bar to hire police officers as security on busy bar nights — that didn’t happen.

Now a second nuisance abatement board hearing is taking place, and there is a second hearing later this month that will focus on the bar’s liquor license.

“We just can’t have this kind of behavior in our downtown,” said Tomas Tefalski, the city council President Pro-Tem back in April.

7 Action News reached out to the owner, but calls went unreturned.

In the past they’ve said that they’re being pushed out because of new construction along Michigan Avenue where the bar is located.

A new mixed-use project is currently under construction on the same block as the Post Bar.

The nuisance abatement hearing is scheduled for Wednesday, May 24th.
