Firefighters are battling a fire and dealing with cold temperatures this morning on Detroit's west side.

The fire started at a home in the 14850 block of Hubbell around 4:30 a.m.

Crews on the scene say there appeared to be no one in the home when they arrived. They also say they could smell accelerant and are certain the fire was arson.

The firefighters also have to be careful of the temps, causing icy spots on the streets and near the hydrants. They say standard protocol is to call a salt truck to salt some of the slick areas.
