(WXYZ) — Former Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick is making another push to get out of prison.

He is looking to disqualify U.S. District Court Judge Nancy Edmunds.

He claims she had a conflict of interest while presiding over his case.

A motion filed in federal court claims the judge had a personal and professional relationship with James Thomas, who is Kilpatrick's former lawyer.

The former mayor says that prevented him from receiving a fair trial.

Kilpatrick is currently serving a 28-year prison sentence. He has been unsuccessful in his atteempts to appeal his conviction.
