GAYLORD, Mich. (WXYZ) — A former teacher in Gaylord has been charged with sexual assault against two former students.

Michigan State Police detectives were contacted by the former students of Grace Baptist School in Gaylord alleging they were sexually assaulted by one of their teachers. The assaults took place in 2002 and 2003.

The victims identified the former teacher as 42-year-old Aaron Willand, who worked for the school from August of 2001 until June of 2003 before moving out of state. The victims were ages 12 and 14 at the time of the alleged assaults.

Otsego County Prosecutor Brendan Curran reviewed the case and arrest warrants were authorized.

Willand, who now lives in Arlington, Washington, returned to Michigan and turned himself in. He was charged with eight counts of Criminal Sexual Conduct Third Degree (Person 13-15), a felony punishable by 15 years.
