(WXYZ) WESTLAND, Mich. — A jury has found a former Westland police sergeant not guilty of misconduct in office.
Ronald Buckley and Leah Maynard, an EMT, were accused of not doing enough to help an inmate who was in police custody in 2017.
The inmate, William Marshall, suffered seizures and convulsed for nearly 90 minutes. He had cocaine in his system and later died.
A judge declared a mistrial in Maynard's case because of a hung jury.
Attorneys for Buckley and Maynard claim their clients were not informed that Marshall ingested cocaine when they were called to evaluate his condition.
