The public is invited to support two police officers today who were shot and injured by the same man suspected of killing Wayne State University Sgt. Collin Rose.

The fundraiser will be held at 6 p.m. at Tony V's Tavern on Cass Avenue near the Wayne State campus. Organizers will be taking $20 donations at the door.

Officers James Kisselburg and Benjamin Atkinson were each shot on March 15 while patrolling for narcotics complaints.

We're told the partners stopped to speak with a man, but he fired on the officers.

The two are still recovering from their injuries, one had to undergo multiple surgeries.

A GoFundMe account has been set up to raise money to aid in their recovery.

The suspect in that case, Raymond Durham, is now the prime suspect in the fatal shooting of Rose. Investigators say there is DNA evidence linking Durham to the Rose killing.

The Wayne State sergeant was shot and killed while doing off-campus investigation into car break-ins.
It happened last November.

Durham remains behind bars for shooting the two DPD officers, he has not been charged with Rose's death.
