Henry Ford Health System plans $110M center

Posted

Henry Ford Health System plans to build a $110 million cancer center in Detroit as part of a $500 million expansion and neighborhood improvement project.

The five-story, 144,000 square-foot center announced Monday will include a rooftop garden and skywalk to connect it to Henry Ford Hospital.

Opening is expected in summer 2018.

The health system says the center will put cancer treatment and support services under one roof, making care more comfortable and convenient for patients and their families. It will include a cancer-specific urgent care and extended weekday and weekend hours.

The center will anchor Henry Ford Hospital's South Campus expansion. That project includes green space, commercial, retail and housing development over the next 10-15 years. The health system also is working to boost other investment in the area.
