WARREN, Mich. (WXYZ) — A man was shot in the leg during a road rage incident in metro Detroit over the weekend.

The man shot does not want 7 Action News to show his face or reveal his name, but he says this started when a car was swerving through traffic on Mound Road. He said he may have been going too slow.

"How can you shoot for no reason even if it’s like a road rage," the victim said.

He's still shaken up from the encounter.

"(I) can't drive the car anymore," he said.

Bullet holes are through his door. The victim was alone in the car on the way to work. One bullet went through his door, another went through the speaker inside the car and hit him in the ankle.

When the victim was shot, he swerved and hit another car, he said.

There were two guys in the suspect's vehicle. The alleged shooter – the driver – was the aggressor and the passenger allegedly leaned his seat back during the encounter.

The victim is licensed to carry and had his handgun next to him. He fired back once, then the driver fired a third shot.

The victim says he doesn't know if he hit anyone during the exchange of gunfire.

A closer look shows one of the shots fired at him was inches away from what could have been a disaster.

"Everybody says I'm lucky. He was aiming at you," he said.

There have been several road rage shootings over the summer months in metro Detroit.

The suspect's vehicle is described as a 1980s Chevy, possibly a Caprice, burgundy in color with big gold rims.
