The first ever Southwest Detroit Restaurant Week kicks off on Friday, Oct. 5 and lasts through Sunday, Oct. 14.

Latin American cuisine will be the focus of the inaugural festivities, with more than 20 participating restaurants providing special menus that will "showcase traditional and affordable" food options.

“Southwest Detroit is well known for its incredible line-up of authentic and reasonably-priced restaurants, making our very own restaurant week a tremendous sense of pride for our community,” said Southwest Detroit Restaurant Week event organizer Monica Casarez. “For our inaugural event, we wanted to build upon Southwest Detroit’s solid reputation for food and hospitality by helping visitors to explore the area, enjoy authentic Latin American cuisine and walk away with an incredible cultural experience.”

Featured restaurants include El Rey de las Arepas, Pollo Chapin, Mexican Village Restaurant, La Terraza, Taqueria El Nacimiento, El Caribeno, and many more.
