STERLING HEIGHTS (WXYZ) — The Sterling Heights officer who saved the life of choking infant met with the thankful family Tuesday.

Dash-cam video captured the harrowing rescue of a 3-week-old infant who wasn't breathing at her home on July 9.

Officer Cameron Maciejewski was the first to arrive and jumped into action. He was met by the family outside the home and took the baby into his arms before performing back thrusts in an attempt to clear her airways. The officer was successful, clearing the lodged object from the infant's throat.

A little over a week after the rescue, the child's family met with Officer Maciejewski to express gratitude for his life-saving efforts. The family also extended an invite to the officer for the girl's 1st birthday party next year.
