Kalamazoo shooting rampage victims to be honored, one year later

Posted

The victims of the Kalamazoo Uber driver rampage will be remembered with a candlelight vigil Monday night, marking the one-year anniversary of the attacks.

Six people were shot and killed. Two others were injured, including 15-year-old Abigail Kopf. She was shot in the head. According to her Facebook page, the teen underwent another surgery earlier this month to reinsert a plastic plate in her head. Her parents say she's having difficulty speaking and remembering things.

Tiana Carruthers was also wounded. The 26-year-old mother is now reportedly walking on her own without the aid of a cane or wheelchair.

Meanwhile, the accused gunman, Uber driver Jason Dalton, remains behind bars as he awaits trail. He claims a "devil figure" appeared in the Uber app and controlled him on the night of the shootings.

Dalton is charged with six counts of open murder. He faces life in prison if convicted. A hearing on the case is set for March 9.
