The nonprofit rescue organization, Forgotten Harvest, is partnering with The Kroger Co. of Michigan on #GivingTuesday.

Kroger Co. will match donations up to $20,000 on #GivingTuesday, which takes place on Nov. 27. #GivingTuesday is recognized globally.

"Forgotten Harvest is grateful for corporate partners like The Kroger Co. of Michigan, and remain truly inspired by its Zero Hunger | Zero Waste initiative which aims to end hunger and food insecurity while delivering healthy, nutritious food," said Kirk Mayes, CEO of Forgotten Harvest. "We wouldn't be able to help our neighbors in metro (Detroit) without Kroger's partnership and support."

Forgotten Harvest is an Oak Park-based nonprofit that was started in 1990 to fight hunger and waste. Over 45 million pounds of food have been "rescued" in the last year by the collection of surplus prepared and perishable food items at over 800 locations.
