Smart meters are on the agenda during a committee hearing that is scheduled this morning at the Michigan House of Representatives in Lansing.
The Energy Policy committee will debate House Bill 4220 beginning at 9:00 a.m.
The bill would allow customers to choose between a traditional meter or the smart meters that utilities have been installing.
Smart meters have been controversial, with many people blaming them for health problems.
They have also led to many people having their power shut off, when they refused to allow the new meters to be installed, or placed locks on their older meters to prevent them from being removed.
WXYZ.com and 7 Action News will provide complete coverage of Tuesday's hearing.
