City of Detroit to train Community Emergency Response Team volunteers

Interested in learning lifesaving techniques to jump into action in emergency situations? The City of Detroit  is looking to train volunteers for the Community Emergency Response Team (CERT).

The free four-day training course includes disaster preparedness, fire safety, disaster medical operations, and light search and rescue.
It also teaches volunteers how to use Automated External Defibrillators (AED), how to bandage wounds, treat burns, fractures, strains, and hypothermia, along with other emergency lifesaving techniques.

The training will be conducted by the Detroit Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Management, Detroit Fire Department, and Detroit EMS.

The classes will be held November 10 and 11 from 5 p.m. - 9 p.m. and on Saturdays, November 12 and 19 from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Greater Grace Temple, located at 23500 W. Seven Mile Rd.
