Stevenson High School senior Christina Li is being honored by the White House as a "Champion of Change for Computer Science Education."
The 17-year-old started Hello World, a week-long Computer Science camp for middle school girls. She teaches them about website development, ad development, robotics and game design. She also organizes field trips to places like Microsoft Tech Center and Google.
“In my Computer Science class and on the robotics team I’m the only female programmer and it’s really obvious when that happens so I just want to change that especially from a young age,” says Christina. “I just want to inspire these young girls that Computer Science can be really fun.”
Christina is one of only nine people to be recognized for this award.
