ROCHESTER HILLS, Mich. (WXYZ) — Oakland County Sheriff's deputies responded to a complaint of arson on Sunday inside the Rochester Estates Manufactured Home Community.

The 47-year-old victim told deputies that her 60-year-old neighbor had allegedly taken a red gas can and poured gas onto a grassy area near her residence and used a lighter to ignite the fire.

The suspect reportedly told the victim "she was next," insinuated the threat was made to set her home on fire.

The victim told the suspect she was calling the police, after which the suspect reportedly fled into his residence, shut the door and turned the lights out. The victim recorded a short video of the suspect lighting the grassy area on fire and showed it to deputies.

While deputies were on scene, the suspect exited his residence to speak with them. He indicated he lit the fire in order to "teach his neighbor a lesson."

The suspect was taken into custody and is currently lodged in the Oakland County Jail. Deputies continues to investigate.
